    9. The indications /contra indications and steps involved in basic surgical procedures of Ear, Nose, Throat and Head and Neck.
    10. Identifying, resuscitating and managing ENT emergencies in a simulated environment (including tracheostomy, anterior nasal packing, removal of foreign bodies in ear, nose, throat, upper respiratory tract and food passages).
    11. High-risk patients and risk factors associated with malignant & pre- malignant Ent diseases.

Skills: At the end of the course the students must be able to acquire and demonstrate the following skills:
    1. The correct use of conventional methods including head lamp in the examination of ear, nose and throat, the correct technique of examination of the nose & paranasal sinuses including the use of nasal speculum, examination of the throat including the use of a tongue depressor, examination of neck including elicitation of laryngeal crepitus.
    2. The correct technique of examination of the ear, nose, throat and head and neck including Otoscopy, tuning fork tests, anterior rhinoscopy, use of tongue depressor.
    3. The correct technique to perform and interpret pure tone audiogram & impedance audiogram.
    4. The correct diagrammatic representation of otoscopic, nasal endoscopic and laryngoscopic findings.
    5. Take appropriate history and clinical examination and be able to reach differential diagnosis of varied ENT conditions.
    6. Clinical features, choose the correct investigations and describe the principles of management of varied ENT and Head and Neck conditions.
    7. Indications for and steps involved in the performance of Diagnostic procedures like Oto-microscopic examination, Diagnostic Nasal Endoscopy and Rigid/Flexible Laryngoscopy.
    8. The correct technique for wax removal from the ear in a simulated environment, the indications for and steps involved in myringotomy, tympanoplasty, mastoidectomy, septoplasty, adenotonsillectomy, tracheostomy.

    10. Identify, resuscitate and manage ENT emergencies in a simulated environment (including tracheostomy, anterior nasal packing, removal of foreign bodies in ear, nose, throat, upper respiratory tract and food passages).

    Integration:
The students should be able to use the above knowledge and skills in day to day and social life and community and should have knowledge about the national programs for prevention of deafness, cancer, noise & environmental pollution and participate actively in deafness prevention, cancer awareness and deaddiction programmes.
